I voted!
Our local school board had an election today and I voted. Just a normal occurrence for most people my age, but not for me. I registered to vote 10 years later than my peers. No voting, no saluting the flag, no fighting in wars, we (Jehovah’s Witnesses) had to remain neutral at all times. When I vote I always reflect on the years I didn’t, I can’t make up for them so I do what I can now. Some things never made sense, most of our Moms didn’t work, they pioneered instead. Our Dad’s made what money we had and sometimes it wasn’t enough, but God would provide right? I had a hard time knowing so many fellow witnesses that remained politically neutral and yet took advantage of every Government hand out. Maybe my reasoning was flawed, but I thought neutral meant having no part whatsoever, not picking and choosing. It’s just not right to take from a Government you don’t support. I’m sure some would say food stamps, HUD and other government programs was God’s way of providing.
